- AFYA YETU only caters for INPATIENT services.
- A member must be actively remitting their monthly subscriptions, including for the month of admission.
- A member must have been with the welfare for a period of 3 MONTHS for purposes of AFYA YETU – from the first date of remitting their first monthly subscription.
- A member must have been with the welfare for a period of 4 MONTHS for purposes of last expense scheme – from the first date of remitting their first monthly subscription.
- A member who is 70 years and above must have been with the welfare for a period of 6 MONTHS for purposes of last expense scheme – from the first date of remitting their first monthly subscription.
- The next of kin for members who are above 70 years MUST also be active members of the welfare, either separately or jointly.
- The annual maximum available in AFYA YETU will be divided among the beneficiaries. Each beneficiary will have an equal share. See rules 9, 10 and 11 below.
- For the first hospital admission, Tujilinde Companion will top up total members’ contribution with Shs 4,000/- to be given to the member where the bill exceeds members’ total contribution. This rule applies to members with less than Shs 15,000/- in their accounts.
- The annual maximum available for TAKE will be paid in the ratio of 30:30:40 in case of any admission for classes 1, 2, 6 and 7, whose total contribution will be more than Shs 15,000/- at the point of admission.
- The annual maximum available for TAKE will be paid in the ratio of 40:30:30 in case of any admission for the rest of the classes 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9, whose total contribution will be more than Shs 15,000/- at the point of admission.
- For return patients for periods running less than 3 months, Tujilinde Companion shall only give Shs 2,000/- in addition to half members’ contribution for members whose contributions are below Shs 15,000/-. Rules 9 and 10 shall be translated in the ratios of 15:15:20 and 20:15:15 respectively.
- AFYA YETU fully covers maternity costs under MAMA WATOTO (with additional benefits) for members who have been with us for 12 MONTHS.
- AFYA YETU should be claimed within 72 hours after discharge and not more than 7 working days thereafter.
- The default period for both AFYA YETU and funeral expenses is 30 days, exclusive of the month of need.
- In case of any default in monthly subscription, the grace period for qualification on services will resume afresh from the new date of monthly subscription: 3 months for AFYA YETU, 4 months for the last expense scheme for members under 70 years, and 6 months for the last expense scheme for members over 70 years, subject to waivers as may be communicated from time to time.
- Tujilinde Companion shall only cater for three funerals per family per year. The funerals, unless accident-related, must be spaced four months apart.
- Tujilinde Companion shall not convert its services to cash or monetary equivalent. Only the listed services shall be provided.
- In cases where a member belongs to another organization offering similar services as Tujilinde Companion, the same services shall not be offered or converted to monetary value. Tujilinde Companion shall only provide additional services not offered by the said organization.
- Tujilinde Companion shall attend to all qualified funeral claims reported at least 72 hours prior to the date of burial. For reports falling below 72 hours, the family will be requested to push the burial date forward to accommodate the required notice for service facilitation and logistics.
